Verna Mae Coffman (nee Wallace), of O’Fallon, MO, passed away Monday, January 29, 2024, at the age of 90. Beloved wife of the late Farris Coffman; cherished daughter of the late Melvin and Cora Wallace. Devoted mother of Vicki (William) Hiatt and Pamela (Kenneth) McLean; loving grandmother Nicole (Earl) Samson; step-grandmother of Dawn (Kevin) Tegeler and Patrick Hiatt; treasured great-grandmother of Lilyin May Samson and Autumn Rain Samson; step-great-grandmother of Brendan Hiatt, Kaitlyn Hiatt, and Alyssa Hiatt; step-great-great-grandmother of Brilynn Hiatt; dear sister of Vada (the late Butch) McClure. Preceded in death by 8 siblings.
Verna's life was a tapestry woven with the threads of enduring love and cherished moments. Married to the love of her life, Farris, for an incredible 66 and a half years until his passing in 2019, their bond stood as a testament to the depth of their connection. Verna found joy in the simple pleasures of life, relishing shopping excursions and embarking on adventures, especially during travels and cruises alongside her dear friends, Joyce and Rich Sizemore. Having retired in 1993 from McDonald-Douglas, she embraced a life of shared experiences and laughter, fostering close relationships with her siblings. Verna's love extended beyond her immediate family, radiating warmth to all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy is one of enduring love, meaningful connections, and a well-lived life.
The family will be arranging a celebration of life at a later date.
Memorials may be made in Verna's name to Alzheimer's Association.
