Viola "Mazie" M. Fels

Viola "Mazie" M. Fels (nee Duffey), of O’Fallon, MO, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023, at the age of 80. Beloved wife of the late Raymond J. Fels; cherished daughter of the late William and Francis Duffy. Devoted mother of Lorena (Robert) Cowles, Dorothy (Donald Jr.) Hoener, Verna (Jerome) Sievert and Karen Rottmann; loving grandmother to many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mazie was one of sixteen siblings. She is also survived by her ex-son-in-law, Earl Muffett, who she always saw as her best friend for the last forty years and her niece, Paula Moore who was like another daughter to her with a bond that was never broken; as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

Mazie was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Dardenne and Assumption Catholic Church where she assisted with the luncheons. When she wasn’t cleaning houses, she loved to travel and was an excellent cook. Mazie also enjoyed going to Syberg’s and loved having fried shrimp and a good margarita. She enjoyed ancestry, taking her family back to the 1500s. More than anything, Mazie enjoyed spending time with family and wrote customized poems for special occasions and holidays, never leaving a dry eye. Mazie was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. 

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contribution to Mazie’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
