Viola Vogt

December 11, 1934 — August 12, 2020

It is with deep sadness that the family of Viola Mary Vogt (née Vehige) announce her peaceful passing on August 12, 2020 in St. Charles at the age of 85.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, William; children: Rev. Daniel, Gerrianne Church (Larry), Barbara Brandhuber (Philip), John, Mark and JoAnn Lank (Michael); grandchildren: Kathryn (Michael), Stanford, Sean (Linda), Samantha (Ross), Jacquelyn, Madeline, Monica, Rebecca (George), Joshua, Robyn and Mark; and seven great grandchildren; her sister, Sister Lucy, SSND; as well as other extended family and friends.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elizabeth; siblings: Joseph, Leo, Bernard, Sister M. Liguori, SSND, Sister Margaret Mary, FSM, and Andrew; as well as a grandson, Jacob.

A lifelong Catholic, she was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Parish, where she served for several years as a Communion Minister.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother; and during several years she worked in the School Office at Duchesne High School, where she was known for her diligence about students’ permission slips.  Viola was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and pinochle player.  She enjoyed red velvet cake, anything chocolate and a good joke.  Viola will be deeply missed by those who loved and knew her.

At her request, Viola’s body has been donated for medical research. Donations in her memory may be made to the Qeqchi Partners. A Mass in her honor will be celebrated by her son, Father Dan, and live-streamed from Guatemala to family and friends.

Viola's family wishes to thank the administration and staff of the Boulevard Senior Living in St. Charles for the kindnesses extended to her during the last several months of her life.

The family invites you to watch the Memorial Mass on Saturday, August 22, at 9:00 am. Click here to view.
