Virgil Carlyle Ponder

Virgil Carlyle Ponder, of St. Charles, MO passed away Saturday, April 25, 2020 at the age of 83. Loving husband of Mary Ellen Ponder and the late Dorothy Ponder; beloved son of the late Virgil F. and Mabel Ponder; father of Diane Ponder, David (Cindy) Ponder; beloved step-father of Jeff  (Sue) Henderson and Diane (Joe) Hawkins; cherished grandfather of Sarah Hendrix, Brian Ponder, Maia Peters, Mark Peters, Angela Dawes ,the late Jason Peters; treasured great-grandfather of Abbie and Cody Hendrix , Myah and Logan Dawes.

Virgil and Dorothy were married on November 17, 1954, and to their union two children were born. Dorothy preceded in death June 1, 1984. On April 23, 1999 Virgil married Mary and celebrated 21 years together before his death. Virgil proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was truly a self-made man, working at McDonnel Douglas for 34 years while also building up a rental business from the ground up. Virgil enjoyed traveling, especially to Florida, and riding his Goldwing motorcycle with his wife Mary on the back. He was devoted to his family and a had wonderful sense of humor. Virgil’s strong personality allowed him to make immediate friends out of many business acquaintances and others that he met.  Virgil was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
