Virgil T. Hollaway of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Monday, January 10, 2022, at the age of 85. Beloved husband of Nancy K Hollaway; cherished son of the late Raymond S. and Pauline Hollaway; Preceded in death by his son Jeffrey Hollaway. Devoted father of Stephanie (Fred) Burks and Debbie Lindemann. Loving grandfather to Jennifer (Jared) Werner, Megan Vicalvi, Andy (Nicole) Burks, Tara (David) Cox, Joe Lindemann, and Brian (Hillary) Burks. Treasured great-grandfather of 10. Virgil is also preceded in death by his sister Dorothy Noel and his brother Raymond Hollaway.
Virgil graduated from Beaumont High school where he was a dedicated baseball player. He then proudly served in the United States Army in the Cold War before returning home and dedicating many years as an electrician and as the president of the Chemical Workers Union. He was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St Peter’s Parish. He spent years playing men's fast pitch softball and was inducted into the St. Charles County Amateur Sports Hall of Fame and went on to serve on the Board of Directors. He officiated many high school basketball, football and college football games. Virgil was involved with the Boy’s Club in St. Charles. He enjoyed sports, especially Baseball, Football, and Golf. He was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion Post 312. Above all, Virgil treasured his family, which was most important to him. Virgil was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
