Wava L. Griffin of Saint Charles, MO, passed away at the age of 83 on Wednesday, May 19, 2021. Wava is survived by her son, Mark (Laura) Griffin; her grandchildren, Adam Henry, Amanda Catherine, and George Henry Griffin; her sisters, Maxine Pearson and Helen (For Mercado) Syler; and her numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over fifty years, Dale Victor Griffin; her son, Ronald Griffin; her parents, Millard and Eva Simpson; and her sister, Betty Jean Burke.
Wava was a woman of deep faith who loved going to church at Calvary Temple to pray and be with the community there or volunteer at the Clothing Closet. She was a dedicated wife and mother who was adored by her nieces and nephews and enjoyed spending time with her sisters. Wava was fond of going to lunch with her church friends and her colleagues from Dierbergs where she retired from after more than seventeen years. An avid reader, Wava’s favorite stories to read were mystery novels and she leaves behind more than a truckbed’s worth of her favorites to be donated and enjoyed for years to come. Wava was truly a beautiful light in the lives of all those she touched and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
