Wayne “Rick” Wiechens, of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at the age of 69. Cherished son of the late Cyril and Lucille Wiechens; devoted father of Richard J. Wiechens, and Jamie M. (Ann Blakemore) Wiechens; loving grandfather of Ashton, Amelia, and Vivian Wiechens; dear brother of Stephen Wiechens, Debbie (Dennis) Auchly, David (Ronda) Wiechens, Diane Wiechens, and Robert "Bob" (Teresa) Wiechens; uncle, cousin and a friend to many. Rick is also survived by his former wife, Barbara "Bo" Wiechens.
Rick had a passion for anything with an engine. He revved his way through life as an automotive technician, establishing ATWI Autobody with Dee Atchison in the 1970s. Upon graduation of Lewis and Clark Technical School, Rick became the youngest certified automotive mechanic in the state of Missouri. Rick could put anything back together and you could often find him tinkering on anything that ran. He was a lifetime member of the Iron Workers Local 396, where he followed in his father’s footsteps becoming the second generation and proudly passed the craft onto his son. Rick passed down many of his traits to his children including the love of meticulous handywork and hard work ethic. Rick was a caring man who would drop anything to help others. He cherished the time he spent with his family on road trips, at car shows or at the race track. Rick loved to spoil his dogs more than anything, especially Lu Lu, Bonnie, and Clyde. Rick was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
