Vernon “Wayne” Schoolfield, passed away on November 5, 2024 at the age of 89 in his hometown of St. Charles, MO. Wayne was born on July 15, 1935 in Conran, MO to Ralph and Frances “Fields” Schoolfield. He had 2 brothers, the late Bob and David (Betty) and two sisters, Jane (the late Donald) Storll and Patsy (William) McMenamy.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Schoolfield. He was the proud Father of Scott (Irene), Becky, Todd (Margo), Tim (Darla), and his grandchildren, Wayne, Teresa, Carl, Cole, Claire, Brody, Scotty, several great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Wayne came from humble beginnings and worked hard to provide for his family. He was a proud military veteran, serving in the Navy during the Korean War. He married Carol “Todd” Schoolfield on August 1, 1969. They raised Scott, Becky, Todd and Tim in St. Charles County. They started Countryside Carpets & Interiors in 1981 and maintained a successful business for over 40 years.
Wayne and Carol enjoyed traveling to many places together. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed his weekly poker nights, standing lunches at Pio’s with his friends, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Most of all, Wayne loved spending time with his family at his farm in Pike County, MO. Wayne cherished his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Wayne is preceded in death by his daughter, Becky, his parents, Ralph & Frances, and his brother Bob.
Memorials may be made in Vernon's name to St. Judes.
