Wenona Henke

Wenona "Nony" M. Henke, of Ferguson, Missouri, Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at the age of 80. Loving wife of the late Frederick W. Henke; dear daughter of the late William and Violet Hillman; devoted mother of Teresa "Terri" (Bernie) Geerling and Mark (Alice) Henke; cherished grandmother of William Oxmann, Teresa (Brad) Kauffman, Laurie (Charles) Elgart, Jessica Henke, Stephanie (Jason) Clark, Sara (Chris) Carmichael, and Brian (Alisha) Geerling; beloved great-grandmother of 8; dear sister-in-law of Pat Hillman; beloved aunt and great-aunt. She is preceded in death by her brothers William 'Chip' Hillman and Harry 'Mick' Hillman.
Nony was devoted to her faith and the shaping of the young minds of her students, teaching in catholic parochial schools for 42 years. She was a deacon in Sts. John and James Catholic Church. Nony developed the Parish School of Religion program at St. Catherine's.
Nony's love of children was prominently noted when she was honored by the University of Notre Dame for mentoring a student in his early life.
