Wesley Warren Reed

Wesley Warren Reed, 97, of Jefferson City passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016 at St. Mary’s hospital, Jefferson City, MO.

Wesley was born December 9, 1918 in Middletown, MO to Buford A. Reed, Sr. and Leola (Ankrom) Reed.

He was a 1936 graduate of Montgomery City High School. On January 24, 1942 he was united in marriage in Montgomery City of Sargena (Jean) France Ball who survives at their home. Their marriage of 74 years is a blessing to all who know them.

Wesley was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Signal Corps working on the development of the oil pipeline from Canada to Alaska. After military service he worked for the Veterans Administration before beginning work at McDonnell Aircraft, from which he retired as foreman after 31 years of service. He was founding member of the first Christian Church in Ferguson, MO, a deacon and elder at the St. Charles Christian Church, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Jefferson City. Wesley enjoyed Cardinal baseball and spending time with his many friends and family.

In addition to his wife, Wesley is survived by his son Warren “Gene” Reed and his wife Marcia, grandson Aaron Reed and wife Kelli and their two children Neil and Eve of Jefferson City, grandson Andrew and wife Merrit of Olympia, Washington, granddaughter Cyndi Ringo of St. Charles and her children Cody Cundiff and Cheyanna Moeser, and son-in-law Tom Traner of St. Charles. He was preceded in death by their daughter Patricia Ann Traner of St. Charles, MO, brothers Winston “Wink” Reed of Mexico, MO, Elton “Demp” Reed of Lake Havasu, AZ, and Buford Jr. “Boots” Reed of Montgomery City, MO.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shiloh Christian Children’s Ranch.
