William “Bill” Wernli

William “Bill” Wernli, of St Peters, MO, passed away Monday, March 8, 2021 at the age of 79.

Beloved husband of the late Barbara Anne Wernli; cherished son of the late William and Mary Wernli; devoted father of Robin Anne (Carl) Crain, Lauren Anne (Gregory) Deffenbaugh and the late Patricia Anne Reed; loving grandfather of William “Bill” (Brandi) Crain, Ryan Wernli, Robert (Casi) Crain, and Michael Wernli; treasured great-grandfather of Adrianna Crain; dear brother of the late Joan Regensburg; William was a beloved uncle, brother-in-law and friend to many.

Bill retired from Lever Brothers after 38 years of service. While at Lever Brothers, he worked as a machinist and served as President of the United Chemical Workers Union among many other roles. Bill never met a person he didn’t like. He mastered the art of being the perfect combination of be a tough guy and the kindest man you ever met. He was a devoted family man to not only his own family, but many others who called him Dad and Grandpa. Bill was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Memorials may be made in William's name to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
