William Foster Newby, of Saint Peters, MO, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at the age of 92. Beloved husband of the late Reva Newby (Nee Roach); cherished son of the late Donald and Goldie Newby. Devoted father of Donna (John III) Kirk, Diana (Michael) Gorham, and William "Billy" Newby; loving grandfather of Jeffrey (Eliomara) Gorham, John (Gina) Kirk IV., Todd (Nichole) Kirk, Sara Kirk, and the late Michael Gorham Jr.; treasured great-grandfather of Shanley, Cody, and Trey Kirk, Kierra and Reagan Montjoy; great-great grandfather of Ezekiel Kirk, Lincoln "Ace" Banfield IV; dear brother of Constance Newby Hutter and the late Donald "Junie" Newby; numerous friends, neighbors, and dear friend Susan Sena survive him.
Bill was born in Jerseyville, IL and his family moved to Buffalo, New York in 1935 where he spent his teen years. He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II from 1944 to 1952, and upon his honorable discharge he returned to the Midwest to join his family in Baden, MO. Bill was a former Mason & member of the Scottish Rite and he went to Our Lady of the Holy Cross in Baden for mass when he could. He enjoyed his retirement job working for Budget & Enterprise as a driver helping them to move cars around. Bill truly enjoyed the relationships he made there. Prior to retirement he worked in the trade schools as a counselor to help students find direction and purpose in life. Bill was an adventurer, traveling to England to visit extended family was a highlight in his life. Later in life he made many trips to California to visit his friend Susan. He was a very social person and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandson's having a "cold one." His canine companion Lucy, the Yorkie, really held a special place in his heart, she survives him. Bill was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Memorials may be made in Bill's name to St. Charles County Humane Society, Salvation Army, or Our Lady of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Baden.
At Bill’s request cremation rites have been afforded and a private burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville, IL.
