Hales, William J. Duke, of O’Fallon, MO, died on September 9, 2024, at the age of 101. Dear husband of belated Eleanor (Collins) Hales; beloved son of John Hales and Louise Hales Andrews; devoted father of Sharon Hales, Patricia Hales, and Colleen (Steven) Grondalski, treasured grandfather of Elizabeth (Mark) Barrett, Madeline Grondalski, Olivia (Nicholas) Verhoff, Steven Jacob Grondalski and James Grondalski; loving great-grandfather of William Barrett and Eleanor Barrett; beloved brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. 

William proudly and honorably served his county and was a WWII veteran of the United States Navy aboard the USS Fessenden and a member of the American Legion post 267. He was also a retired member of the Teamsters local 600 and retired staff from Riverview school district. William enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Memorials may be made in William's name to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul or Stray Rescue.
