William Haverstick, of Maryland Heights, MO, passed away Monday, May 4, 2020 at the age of 91. Loving husband of the late Camille Edna Haverstick; beloved son of the late William and Ella Haverstick; devoted father of Matthew (Diana) Haverstick, James (Suzanne Boyle) Haverstick, John W. (Mary) Perry, Michael (Susan) Haverstick, and Lauren T. (Chris) Garrick; dear brother of Kenneth Haverstick, Lillian Wallace, and Mary (Reed) Karr; cherished grandfather of Michael (Carla) Perry, Jennifer (Dan) Leeder, Timothy (Estela) Haverstick, Kristen Haverstick, Ryan Haverstick, Katelyn (Bret) McCann, Nicholas Haverstick, Brittney (Chris Sr.) Sullivan, Camille Garrick, and Edison Garrick; treasured great-grandfather of Christopher Sullivan, Jr., Evan Sullivan, Tyler Perry, Angelina Perry, Cal Rienert, Kianna Rienert, Camden Rienert, Isabela Haverstick. Bill is also preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Marilyn Perry.
Bill was a proud union member of the Tool and Die Makers union, Lodge 688 of St. Louis and long time and faithful member of Mizpah Presbyterian church. He was a member for almost 56 years. He was a hard worker and grew up on a farm in southern Missouri during the Great Depression. Bill was very mechanical, could make anything with his hands.
Bill worked a lot of overtime at his job to provide for the family. Yet he very seldom missed any sporting events, plays, scouting, or any ceremony that was for his children. He wanted each of his children to have an education if they chose. He said extra knowledge is something no one can ever take away.
Bill and Edna were married for 44 years until Edna 's death in 1998. When Edna became ill Bill retired early and took care of her at home for three years. He often went without eating or sleeping to make sure all of her needs were met.
Bill was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Memorials may be made in William 's name to
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
