On December 20, 2020, a great man was lost. William Joseph James Galluzzo, born September 11, 1938 to Anna and William Galluzzo, died peacefully with his family at his side. After working through issues related to liver cancer over the last 18 months, and more recently pneumonia, his body just couldn’t keep up the fight. Bill is survived by his older sister Marie Zeman (Roger). He leaves behind his wife of 12 years, Joy Galluzzo (Hodge), 4 children, 3 step children, and 15 grandchildren. Carol Whelan (Dave) children; Amy, Emily and Jack. Paul Galluzzo (Elizabeth) children; Meagan and Justine. Mike Galluzzo (Sara). Steve Galluzzo (Jennifer) children; Natalie, Rachel and Sarah. Jenny Corbett (John); child Carson. Krista Kenkel (Derek); children Kylie, Jake and Sara. Michael Hodge (Leanne); children Preston, Dylan and Emily. Bill was proud of every one of them and always had stories to share about their latest accomplishments.
Bill attended the St Louis College of Pharmacy from ‘58 to ‘62,, where he met his first wife Phyllis Lee McGlasson Galluzzo. Bill and Phyllis married in 1961 and were together for 40 years. Their time together came to an end when Phyllis lost her battle with lung cancer in 2001. Bill remarried in 2008 to Joy and together they enjoyed life to the fullest. Traveling became one of their favorite things and they traveled often. Bill loved spending time with family. He did everything possible to get as many of his children, their spouses and most importantly his grandchildren, to gather and spend time together. Annual family trips became a tradition and included beautiful vacation spots such as Mexico, Table Rock Lake and everyone’s favorite, the white sand beaches of Destin Florida.
Bill was an amazing person and was the life of the room wherever he was. He was a master at joke and storytelling and a friend to everyone. He was a very hard worker and took pride in what he accomplished. As a pharmacist, he would deliver prescriptions on his way home to those that could not make it in. While at Express Scripts, he earned Employee of the Year, acknowledging his dedication and commitment. He even took his role with the homeowners association very seriously and was often referred to as the sheriff or mayor of VSP by his neighbors. Bill could often be found boating, enjoying time with family and friends by the water or playing Italian dice. He loved working in his shop, building things that he gave to family and friends. He was a patient teacher of these skills to his children, and grandchildren. It made him happy to see others take interest in one of his favorite past times.
Gatherings will never be the same without him. We miss you Bill, Dad, Grandpa!
In person services will be scheduled at a later date. For those who wish, memorial donations in Bill’s name may be made to
