Bill was a professional mechanic and retired after more than 35 years with Trans World Airlines. He also owned and operated a service station in Chicago, and PDQ Towing in Des Plaines, IL. He was a lifelong car enthusiast, and he raced at Soldier Field, Raceway Park, Illiana Speedway, and U.S. 30 Dragway. He was also a member of Road Gents Windy City in his younger years.
Bill traveled with his wife, Marie, throughout the U.S. and abroad. Some of their favorite trips included Australia and cruising with Norwegian Cruise Lines.
Bill had a love for classic films like, Casablanca, The Thin Man, Going My Way, and The Maltese Falcon. He also liked a good mystery movie and shows on PBS, which he had a great fondness for figuring things out on Father Brown, Sherlock Holmes, and The Lone Ranger. He liked to listen to the great rock n’ roll of the 50s; Jackie Wilson, Fats Domino, The Drifters, The Platters and more.
Bill’s interest in professional hockey began in Chicago, and he supported the Cougars and Blackhawks. However, he quickly became a fan of the St. Louis Blues and truly enjoyed when they won the Stanley Cup, finally. Another St. Louis favorite was his appreciation for the Budweiser Clydesdales. Bill was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
