William Alfred “Al” Norath, of Saint Charles, Missouri, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2022, at the age of 75. Loving husband of 53 years to the late Kathleen Norath; beloved son of the late Marguerite and Alfred J. Norath; devoted father of Michelle (Jon) Dulle, Timothy Norath, Paul (Sarah) Norath, and Elizabeth (Geoff) Sanford; cherished grandfather of Jonathan Dulle, Joshua Dulle, Hunter Sanford, Hailey Norath, Emily Sanford, and Peyton Norath; dearest brother of Leo (the late Denise) Norath, Mary Catherine (Ken) Franklin, and Donald (Nancy) Norath. Bill was also preceded in death by his siblings, Gertrude "Grace" (Robert) Odle, Daniel Norath, and Margaret Mack (survived by Charlie Mack).
Bill was a devoted man of faith and went to church every day, and adoration once a week. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, where he also sang in the choir. For birthdays and anniversaries, he always made sure to give a gift with a Mass card, and he never missed a birthday. And, he loved having his cheesecake on his birthday too!
As a true family man, Dad loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. In his younger years, he coached his kids’ soccer, baseball, and hockey teams, and he loved every minute of it. He was kind and generous and just wanted to always take care of everyone, family or friend. He taught his family the importance of life and love of family, and he was a strong rock for his family when his wife passed. Bill also did charity work for the church with St. Vincent dePaul.
If you knew Bill, he was the hardest working man you ever met. He worked 50 years in building material sales, and he was still working. He was an avid sports fan and loved watching St. Louis sports and reading the sports section of the newspaper every day. Later in life he also learned how to cook and got pretty good at it.
Bill enjoyed weekend getaways with his wife. He reunited with his true love on the Feast of Immaculate Conception. Bill was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Memorial contributions may be made in Bill’s name to American Heart Association.
