William Schwendeman
September 2, 1943 — December 26, 2021
Bill Schwendeman of O'Fallon, MO, passed away on December 26, 2021, at the age of 78. He was the beloved husband of Joan (Dickherber) Schwendeman. He is survived by his wife; seven children, Tina Schwendeman, Debra (Kevin) Call, Keith (Lori) Schwendeman, Stacy (Tim) Stewart, Eric (Jill) Schwendeman, Kevin (Jill) Schwendeman and Sara Schwendeman (Samara Peddle); sisters, Judy (Tom) Sachs, Linda (Tom) Tucker, brother Gary Schwendeman; Nine grandchildren, Allison Call, Dillon Schwendeman, Madeline Stewart, Cole Schwendeman, Jacob Schwendeman, Ryan Schwendeman, Gavin Stewart, Grant Schwendeman and Anders Schwendeman; In-laws Don Dickherber, Betty Dickherber, Patricia (Jim) McMenamy, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Bill positively impacted 1,000s of employees' careers at McDonnell Douglas, Monsanto and Flexsys America as a human resources executive for 40 years. He served in the United States Air Force for six years, serving in the Vietnam War. He was a life-time member of Assumption Parish, a 3rd degree member of the O'Fallon Knights of Columbus Council #2269, serving as Grand Knight from 2008-2010. He spent his free time coaching his children in basketball, throwing darts, pitching horseshoes, playing cards and golfing. He enjoyed attending all his children's and grandchildren's events. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, godfather and friend who will always be remembered for his unwavering faith, love for family, generosity, service, and his unique sense of humor.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hilary and Lucille (Griesenauer) Schwendeman.
