William “Woody” Stahl

August 10, 1947 — September 9, 2021

William (Woody) J. Stahl, of Galena, MO, passed away Thursday, September 9, 2021, at the age of 74, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack ad Helen (nee Collins) Stahl. His sister, Edith, and brother-in-law, Lee Vaughn.

He is survived by his loving, devoted partner of many years, Mary Vomund. His sisters, Anita (Don) Halter of Fenton, Missouri, Sheila (Terry) Lovelace of Garland, Texas and Merry (Tony) Rolden of Kirkwood, Missouri. Along with several nieces, nephews, and numerous dear friends.

He was a Navy veteran who proudly served on the U.S.S. Randolph. He was a dedicated law enforcement officer, and the majority of those years were with the St. Charles County Sheriff’s Department.

He enjoyed bass fishing on Table Rock Lake, being a member of the American Poolplayers Association, and traveling to Las Vegas. He would gladly make time for a conversation to talk about U.S. history and the St. Louis Blues.
