Winifred "Winnie" R. Anglin née: Lobdell of Saint Peters, MO; daughter of the late Alban and Doris Lobdell and widow of Rev. Gene Anglin, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 87 on Friday, November 15, 2019. Winnie was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts and was a creative force with a brilliant inquisitive mind. After graduating from the New England School of Art, Winnie held several jobs throughout her life, including architectural drafting, stained glass design, stay-at-home mom, and finally retired as a medical illustrator. She won many awards in art shows throughout her life. Not only was she a prolific artist, but she also taught and encouraged others wherever she went.
As a minister’s wife, she aided her husband, providing support to their congregations of the following United Methodist Churches of Missouri: Leadwood, Ironton, Zion, California, Salem, Hannibal, Kingshighway (now New Covenant UMC) in South St. Louis, and Arlington UMC in Bridgeton. Winnie and Gene loved to travel and explored 49 states and a large swatch of Canada with their minivan. Winnie was an avid reader, rock collector, garage sale aficionado, and life-long-learner; there was never enough time for all of her passions. Her love of all animals helped showcase her great compassion and empathy. Her regular donations to a myriad of different charities exemplified her generosity. But above all, she was an incredibly caring person, her relationships with family and friends were the core of who she was.
Winnie is survived by her children, Peggy (Jim) Anglin-Rekowski and David Anglin; her grandchildren, Sarah Anglin, Bryce Anglin, Lauren Rekowski, and James “J.T.” Rekowski; her great-grandchildren, Mila and Jordan; her siblings, Alban (Nancy) Lobdell and William (I’Lee) Lobdell. Winnie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to many. She will be dearly missed.
