Winnie Lee Peri, of Saint Charles, Missouri, passed away at the age of 81 on Sunday, September 13, 2020. Loving wife to the late Fred Ronald Peri for more than 58 years; beloved daughter of the late Floyd and Eula Branch; devoted mother of Kenneth (Rhonda) Peri, Michael (Michaela) Peri, Desiree (Vince) Peri Klakovich, and Juanita Rose Cathers; and cherished “Grami” of Jeff, Faith, Taylor, Anna, Johanna and Ophelia and great-grandmother to Aundrea and Aria. She is also survived by sisters Juanita Doyle and Moceylene Alcott, and by many beloved nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by sisters Edna Martin and Jackie Andre.
Winnie was a devout Catholic and a deeply proud American. She was born in Texas and spent most of her life in Southern California before moving to Missouri. She had diverse life experiences, such as serving as a Deputy Sheriff in Los Angeles County; riding as a “Princess” on the City of Downey float in the Tournament of Roses Parade; earning her Psychology degree from California State University Long Beach while raising her children; traveling extensively and living abroad; and teaching Middle and High School students over two decades. Winnie’s interests included swing dancing, bowling, playing cards, and reading fiction.
Above everything, Winnie loved taking care of her family and making sure that they were happy. She also positively impacted many lives through her thoughtful spirit, teaching instinct, and her unfailing sense of fun and contagious laugh. Winnie brought a bright light into the hearts of, and will be missed by, those who knew and loved her.
